A popular dive site is Jacques Cousteau's underwater laboratory at Shaab El Roumi just north of Port Sudan, a must-see for any diver.

The Red Sea Hills also has its share of natural beauty, with wildlife that seems to jump out from every rock and bush. Ancient Pharaonic gold mines dot the landscape, and weaver birds, herons and camels visit water reservoirs hidden in its valleys.
